New Spanish Portfolio – Gerry Dawes’ Selection
Omniwines wines is now proudly distributing Gerry Dawes Selections – The Spanish Artisan wine group.
Gerry Dawes and Camilo Ceballos, Omniwines Partner and its Wine Director, go back 20+years. Both were representing Robert Kacher Selections as well as several small producers in NYC in the early 1990’s.
Gerry is well known as an authority on Spanish wine and food culture. He was awarded Spain’s prestigious Premio Nacional de Gastronomía (National Gastronomy Award) in 2003. He also writes and speaks frequently on Spanish wine and gastronomy and leads gastronomic tours of Spain for American chef’s.
Over the years Camilo and Gerry have remained in touch. And when Gerry launched an import company of artisanal micro-production farmers, family-owned bodegas with their own vineyards (preferably un-irrigated or minimally irrigated) Omniwines was among the first to taste. Gerry’s mission is to highlight winemakers who produce wines that reflect their own unique regional traditional techniques and taste. Producers who focus on uniqueness of their vineyard sites, grapes, soil, climate and individual tastes,… and not making wines “that the market is asking for.” These Producers were quite weary of exporting their wines… until Gerry began representing them in the US.
