Located within the DOC area of Chianti, the Modanella Estate extends over 645 hectares in the province of Siena. The Castle was built in the 12th century by the noble Cacciaconti family, and in a later period was inhabited by the Piccolomini family for hundreds of years. The winery has recently made a transformation from mass produced chianti to small production, high quality, traditional style wines.
