MAZZOLINO- Pinot
Nero Noir
The Noir vineyards of Tenuta Mazzolino are located exclusively
on southern facing, hilly slopes that were planted in 1988-1989 with clones
specifically imported from Burgundy. The vine density is approximately
6,000 vines per hectare. Only the fully ripe, perfectly healthy grapes are selected
for this wine. Vinification takes place over the course of 3 weeks in stainless
steel vats under strict temperature control. The wine is aged for about
1 year in French oak barriques of which 1/3 are new, 1/3 are used once,
and 1/3 are used twice. The wine is ruby red with an intense nose
composed of a bouquet of fine, elegant aromas with complex notes
of red fruit, roses, leather and pine. The palate is full, rich
and persistent with extreme balance. 10,000 bottles are produced
per year.
