Brunello di Montalcino
Brunello di Montalcino is obtained from the Sangiovese Grosso
grape that is planted on 7 hectares between 2 vineyards,
Poggio al Sole and Pian Bossolino. The vineyards are planted
at 7,000 vines per hectare, each plant producing 800 grams
of grapes. In the third week of September the grapes are
ready to be harvested. Fermentation takes place in a conical
fermentation tank made from Slavonian oak. The wines are
aged for 2 years in French Tonneaux, and the wine is held
at the winery until it is ready to be consumed, often an
additional 2-3 years. Each vintage is extremely unique, but
tend to have garnet tones with flavors reminiscent of plums,
cherries, leather, tar, herbs, and caramel. Annual Production
is 15,000 bottles.
