Antonelli is situated in the most important DOCG region of Umbria, Montefalco. Bought by a family member in 1881, the Antonelli Family started, even at this time, doing high density vineyards, about 5,000 vines per hectare, and creating what became in 1979, an estate bottled high quality producer of Sagrantino, Grachetto et al. The vineyards cover about 35 hectares of prime property of rich limestone and clay soil, all located on a hilly terrain. They recently built a new gravity fed winery that crafts only indigenous varietals to this part of Umbria. Filippo Antonelli is the argronomist and runs the day-to-day functioning of the vineyards.
