Castello di Sonnino
(Toscana)
The soil of the land around the Sonnino Castle, has advantageous distinctive features. It is rich in clay and 'alberese' limestone with gravel intrusions, thus guaranteeing good water retention and avoiding the grapevines being harmed by summer droughts, which is rather common in Tuscany. Consequently, the ripening of the grapevines is balanced.
The Sonnino Castle owns around 30% of the vineyards belonging to the Chianti Montespertoli DOCG area, the smallest in the Chianti region. |
